CVARs (removed and existing ones)

I’ve been checking my config and added all the existing CVARs with explanations. Of course I left cheat protected CVARs away because I found those useless. So I was checking in the ET:L test server for the existing CVARs and creating my config. While doing that I dound that some added to the list of "Removed cvars" may still exist in the ET:L. For example cg_norender was still in-game even it was written to be removed. Is that a mistake or what? And I was also thinking to add the config in this topic when it would be ready, so that the explanations for the CVARs would show and well then, I would also know which are unnecessary. Also I was thinking to ask about some of the CVARs which I have no clue what they are doing, because some of the doesn’t seem to make any difference to the client.

Also I tried cg_drawAccuracy 1, but it did not do anything. I also googled some of the unknown CVARs for me, I found something how those are used in some other games but only some of the CVARs were found. I will be putting my config here soon.

First of all, you have to know that our test server runs NoQuarter mod which has different configuration. I’ll set up Legacy Mod server with the release of 2.71rc1. There wasn’t much sense of doing that before, but IR4T4 has been improving Legacy mod lately, so we can start testing it now. Edit: he has been doing that from the start actually, but it is getting more mature now

So cvars cg_norender and cg_drawAccuracy really do not exist in ET:L. However, it is possible that you found some other cvars which could be removed. We’ll see when you post your config here.

You can always improve the List of cvars wiki page.

cg_norender and drawAccuracy are both removed but probably after the 2.70RC1 release. We may add all the cvars to the wiki in future it’s just not the best time to do it now. If you want to do that please wait for 2.71RC1 and don’t forget to start w/o existing config files. For any unknown cvar explaination requests simply use this thread.

Ok I put the config here. It also includes those CVARs that exist in NQ. But the config doesn’t contain any of the cheat protected CVARs. It might also have some which have been removed or it is missing some of the CVARs, since I am not sure. So feel free to suggest explantaions for the ones I haven’t found and also tell me if something needs to be changed. Some of the explanations might be incorrect, but as said, tell me.

And yes, I noticed some of the sound CVARs were removed and were not written into the list. I will be waiting for the next release.

To me these cvars are only created and not used. Might be a relic.

So I could remove those from my config? Well I never really needed them but it is always nice to know about those which are necessary and which CVARs aren’t.

Doesn’t make sense. They are automatically created at each start for genuine ET and ETL < 2.71RC1

Yeah, I even failed to understand myself too after reading my post. I was busy, so I didn’t probably think about what I was typing.
Anyway I meant that I may remove these three vm_ CVARs from my config if those are unnecessary, since I guess there is no use to have CVARs in config file that are unused in-game or have no function. Yes and I understand the point you said in the last sentence. But well I made my last post in hurry so it was a big mess.
