Segmentation Fault

Added by hellreturn over 6 years ago

I am trying to use new RC1 build to run server on Debian 6 - 64 bit which is latest stable release in Debian.

http://www.etlegacy.com/attachments/download/54/etlegacy-linux-2.70rc1.tar.gz

When I try to start server, I get segmentation fault. Old etded runs fine. Here is the command line which I am using:

./etlded +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip xxxxx +set net_port xxxx+set fs_game silent +set fs_homepath /home/xxxx +set fs_basepath /home/xxxx

Segmentation fault

When I try to run without any mod, I still get segmentation fault. Can someone please guide me or resolve the issue?

Can’t reporduce on my 64bit Debian 6.

3 Notes:
- there is a missing space between the net_port value and '+set’ of fs_game (c&p virus?)
- make sure fs_basepath points exactly to the path containing the etlded
- start with a clean fs_homepath (/home/xxx/.etlded_test)

Does it sigsegvs immediately after you execute etlded or do you see some initialisation output beforehand?

I can’t reproduce here either. Using Debian 'testing’ on AMD64. The output of ldd `which etlded` might shed some light.

That space was typo error created while editing the real command line.

Will try clean fs_homepath. fs_basepath is correct. Thanks for quick help, guys. Will be back shortly.

Try compiling your own binary from source.

RE: Segmentation Fault - Added by Radegast about 6 years ago

hellreturn: I installed Debian 6 (x86_64) in a virtual machine and etlded 2.70rc1 started right out of the box. If you would like to try and compile it from source, join our IRC channel and we will try to help you.

RE: Segmentation Fault - Added by IR4T4 about 6 years ago

Before you start to compile and we’ll never know the cause run ldd as lottin said. Here is my output:

foo@bar:~/etlegacy-linux-2.70rc1$ ldd etlded
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xf777d000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0xf7756000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0xf7730000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib32/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7716000)
        librt.so.1 => /lib32/librt.so.1 (0xf770d000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0xf75c6000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xf777e000)

Make sure the required libs are installed.
